| Volunteer activities?
Hmmm, in the past my small group usually spends some time volunteering
in the community to help serve and give back.
I think for the past 4 years we fed the homeless, which is a great
experience. But I thought for this
quarter, it would be cool to try something new.
After doing some research, I found a great program called the Ronald
McDonald House : http://www.larmh.org .
This program gives parents, who have kids diagnosed with cancer, a place to
stay while there children are being cared for in the hospital. Groups are
welcomed to volunteer to cook and serve dinner for the parents and kids for one
night. What an awesome idea, and great
for our group to participate, especially for us who love to cook.
I thought for
myself, this really hits home and was a special way to give back. Seeing some of the kids who are diagnosed
with cancer, reminded me of my moms battle with cancer. I can only imagine what these kids are
feeling, and how extremely brave, courageous and strong they are to face such a
challenge in life. One of the girls I met seem really energetic and lively, you
wouldn’t even think how hard her past was, as Mr. Joe (our host) noted, this
was his daughter and hearing Joe share his daughters story and how much she had
to go through battling cancer, I was amazed how far she came. This really touched my heart, as Joe mentioned
it was by God’s Grace that his daughter was able to be healed and fortunate to
find the right doctors to perform the right treatment. What an awesome
story.
This past quarter
something that really spoke to me was one lesson reminding me that our faith is
as strong as our actions. That sometimes
we live in a selfish society, embarked by selfish ambition and a sinful nature. We always tend to think about “what can
my faith do for me, rather than what does my faith make me want to do for
others”.. well what does my faith make me want to do for
others? This has spurred me on to
continue to live my life with this in mind. I am praying to God to reveal to me his heart
and will for me, …and I’m finding more and more that God’s purpose for me is to
serve and love others as he has served and loved me. I’m thinking about doing more in my life to
serve and love the people around me, my community and God. Thought, about maybe coaching kids again, but
what’s really on my heart is, as I continue to pursue some of my business
ventures, I now want to use some of the profits to start a non-profit
organization to do more things similar to the Ronald McDonald house or
something to serve kids and the community. I am praying for direction and guidance and remaining
faithful that God will show me his plan. …looking forward to see what God has
in store for me.

| This past weekend our small group got a chance to get away from the city and spend some quality time in the mountains. Although, we had a rough start, running into some road blocks, like having our cabin changed from a 10 BR house to a 6 BR house, it left Henry and I a challenge on what to plan next. After, fighting management, we finally settled on a discount in price and an upgraded cabin w/less rooms, but probably a lot nicer than our original. And then we got a phone call from the second crew driving up that Justin forgot to buy chains, which was a requirement to get up the mountain. I was kinda worried that they would have to turn around and not be able to come, but luckily someone on the road had extra chains and the rest of the group was able to drive up. So thank God it all worked out and we were able to make this retreat happen. After a rough start, everything else seem to run smoothly. Frozen Bling ! | What an ending to 2007. Before celebrating the holidays and beginning my travels, it started with celebrating Jon and Michelle's wedding. The wedding was awesome and so much fun seeing some great friends and enjoying a Reunion with some old Bling members. Praise God Bling is still around and Thank God he's giving me the opportunity to still serve and love him through leading, keeping Bling alive and just being a man continuously pursuing God's own heart. | This past weekend I got a chance to check out the tracks (Willow Springs) and really see what cars are really made of. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to track my car, but was lucky enough to get to ride along w/Scott in his M5. I definetly want to test my car next time, seems so much fun, there's nothing like pushing 120+ and taking turns at 90 mph really gets your blood flowing.
Drivers to your cars! Being a dork in front of Wilson's gti Scotts Favorite # 11 Looking to place #1 ........ Ready set GO !!!!! And Scott takes 1st GOOD Times ! Master Photographer : Dan, Chowtime ! Scott, Kevin, Wilson

| This is so crazy, as I see this city in flames and burning, literally before my eyes, I am just thinking how unreal this is, to see how much news coverage is on tv, like I am watching a movie or something AND then to walk outside and experience ashes on my car and smoke in the sky, wakes me up realizing this is not a dream it is so real. Everyday I am learning more and more how people are being impacted by this, my co-workers can't go home because of freeways being closed and people being evacutated out of local nieghborhoods, but what really hit home was Waking up and recieving a phone call, asking to pray for my friends church, seeing that his church was burning down right before our eyes on CNN... what tha heck? After seeing how much this is impacting this community and hearing about some other disturbing news personally, I kinda wondered what is GOD saying by all this? What is GOD saying when he places unexplainable challenges in this world ..in our lives? Is he testing us or trying to teach us something? I can't figure it out sometimes? ...but as I was preparing for worship and playing my guitar I read a verse in Isaiah 55 that spoke to me saying that "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. Meaning sometimes we can not fully understand the sovernity of GOD and why he does things. It's indescribable... and I learn that, some tragedies or challenges that we experience in life just can not be answered. But believing GOD is good, I have to continue to stay faithful and obedient to GOD, trusting in his ultimate plan.
